CH San Luis Dakota of the Bird & I Chinchilla silver persian male 7 pounds Dakota is typical size for a silver chinchilla male Most colourbred silvers males are 6-9 pounds and silver females range from 3.5 pounds -6.5 pounds, with the chinchillas usually being in the smallest size and weight range in silvers and the shadeds, a little larger in size. What is the norm for solid persians is definitely not the norm for colourbred silver persians. Colourbred silvers usually fit within the range that has been called "toy", "mini " or "teacup" persians.

Cigi was huge for a silver persian female, let alone a chinchilla. Her size is not the norm as most silver persians especially chinchillas are very small. Her size, type and coat factor made Cigi a wonderful showcat.

Badly coloured "silver" persians Because show standards require heavier boning and bigger size then is the norm for colourbred silver persians, we have crossed our tiny little silvers to solid persians to get better type and boning A sad part of doing this is that we lose the gorgeous colouring of the colour bred silvers. It takes years of perserverance to get both colour and type to meet show standards for the lovely silver persian. In other cases, silver persians are simply crossed to solids with no breeding goal in mind and what we get are badly coloured "silvers"
This page is devoted to silver persians and a tribute to the gorgoeus elegance of a silver persian and our attempt to show what true silver persian colouring is like. |
